These are extraordinary times for humanity. A cough which hardly caught anyone’s attention, today can lead to someone pressing an emergency stop button on a train. The novel coronavirus has upended our schedules, our holidays, our dining, movie watching and the by the way – the whole economy.
While the pandemic has everyone onboard with flattening the curve (and some with cattening-the-curve) and #socialdistancing, the true legacy of the pandemic will be the generational economic impact it will leave on millions. Simply put, there has been no playbook in modern economic history to deal with a medical downturn with an uncertain timeframe.
There will be heaps of economic commentary as this situation evolves. I will track it, simplify and summarize it by topic in ~500 words and link all the memes, articles, charts, podcasts and videos. It will be delivered to your inbox twice a week.
As an Indian, the economic situation closer home is obviously more topical and immediate for me. However, this is an unchartered territory and incredible insights can emerge by studying the global playbook. This newsletter will track global events and their impact on tech, business and policy.
Just like you, I am overwhelmed by the clutter of news. My hope is that this newsletter becomes the go-to place for the best views, distilled to its core. Your feedback and suggestions will be critical along this journey, please do keep sending them my way.
